Endings Truly Are only New Beginnings—The first written installment of my Water Nya AU. (and another watercolor request)

Happy Friday, peeps!

WE HAVE DONE IT!!! We have made it through another week!

And July is quickly coming to a close, which is weird because it feels like it just started. But I’m honestly getting excited for Autumn already.😅

But anyway! I don’t have time to ramble, because today’s post is looong! At least it is for those of you who want to read this lengthy prologue to my version of the Water Nya AU.

A warning for those of you who haven’t seen Seabound, this is basically a written version of the end of “Turn of The Tide” the last episode of the season, diverging from canon near the end.

Anyone who reads my blog knows that it is a heavy spoiler zone, but I wanted to note it again.

So here we go! Enjoy!

The battle over, Nya alighted on the roof where the others were watching from. “Way to go! I knew you could do it!” Cole exclaimed, giving the air a triumphant punch.

“Nya! You did it!” Jay yelled happily, running forward to hug Nya—who now stood a whole two feet taller than him. When he reached her, instead of whatever he was expecting, he received what felt like a freezing cold bucket of water over his head.

“Ha, that’s gonna take some getting used to. But we’ll figure out a way to change you back. Don’t worry.”

Nya briskly turned her head to the one speaking, whom she could barely grasp in her mind, which was being churned and thrown about constantly.

“Back?” Her voice was strange, and she sounded as if she were calling from far beneath the ocean’s surface, although the sound flooded into their ears as though she was right there next to the one listening.

“To normal.” Jay said, his smile beginning to fade. “You know, the old you.”

“Normal?”

Jay’s smile completely deflated, and the others shared frightened glances. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

The clouds suddenly parted, and the sun shone down on the city, illuminating the water filling the streets.

Nya thought she would explode when the noise began. Like a choir—but the voice was singular. Like a fierce war cry, powerful and wild, but it was the most beautiful thing she had ever heard.

She turned towards the sun, which shone through her and cast water patterns on the concrete roof. “Do you hear it?”

“Hear what?” Jay looked where Nya was, but all that was visible was a calm horizon.

Nya continued to stare out as she answered. “The sea. It’s so loud…so powerful.”

Benthomaar stepped forward to clarify, quietly and solemnly saying, “It calls to her.”

A ripple went through her, and Nya could feel something changing—reordering. The voices of her friends seemed to fade, and her mind began to feel…fuzzy.

A voice in her head was pleading—screaming at her, begging her to stop, to turn around and—another voice was there too, harmonizing with the pounding in her head, and arguing fiercely with the other voice, who seemed to be losing.

Nya couldn’t tell if they were hers.

Jay gasped, and Nya explained in response. “Sorry. It’s difficult to maintain this shape.”

Shape?! The small, screaming voice echoed.

Jay too was perplexed. “What do you mean, “shape”? That’s—that’s what you are!”

The argument inside of Nya was still going on, Loud Angry voice still keeping Small Screaming down, meaning Loud Angry got to speak.

“What I was, yes.” Jay was growing steadily more concerned. “I have to go now.”

Small Screaming was weeping now, but hardly growing louder. Loud Angry was in control, and would not loosen her grip.

She topped it off with a cold and clear, “I will remember you.”

Kai, who had been silent for some time, spoke up at this. “Remember? What are you talking about? You’re not going anywhere.”

Nya turned, walking steadily towards the edge of the roof, Small Screaming making her opinion on this clear as she raised her voice as much as was possible while Loud Angry rambled on.

Jay ran out in front of her, holding out his arms as if to stop her, but kept a good distance ahead, walking backwards as he spoke to her. “Nya! Stop-wait-listen! Something is wrong with you. You have to concentrate, you have to focus, you have to turn back—“ Nya cut him off short, making a stride that took her straight through him, leaving him soaking wet.

“No,” Jay whimpered, tears clouding his eyes. “Please don’t leave me.”

A new voice, neither small and Screaming, nor Loud and Angry forced its way up that moment, and everything else stopped, intrigued.

Nya paused, turned around, and reached for Jay’s hand. A tear rolled down his face, and she reached up and wiped it away, smiling in a way that made her look infinitely miserable.

Loud Angry got fed up with this, and forced her way back into her preferred place, directing Nya back towards the edge. The old man spoke now, and his voice was foreign to her. “Nya, I implore you. Whatever you’re hearing, whatever you’re experiencing—Fight it, Nya. Remember who you are. Remember!”

Loud Angry scoffed. “I am Nya, I am the Sea. We are one.”

Liar!!! Small Screaming screeched. Another battle was sure to begin when Jay spoke up again.

“Nya! I…I love you.”

The words bounced around in her mind, no impact made for several seconds.

Then something remembered.

The last words Nya had ever said when she was the one in control. When she had stood on that roof and given it all up. She could have done it in classic Nya fashion; brave and bold—no weakness. But instead she made herself completely vulnerable, and spoke those words so frightful to her, the words she had been saving for someone who deserved them.

Loud Angry was pushed to a side, and the new voice took over.

“I never said.”

Everyone looked at eachother, puzzled, except for Jay, who was laser-focused on the speaker.

“Y-you never said what?”

Nya’s voice had softened, and she stepped closer, away from the edge. “I never said…” Jay could swear he heard her voice break as she struggled to get the words out. That was something else. Nya never struggled, or if she did she never showed it.

But this was said almost in a whisper. “I never said…I never said thank you. Thank you, Jay, for all the times you deserved it.”

“What’s happening?” Jay asked, tugging on Master Wu’s sleeve. “I don’t know.”

Nya came even closer, and she squinted, trying to make the blurry, swimming image her eyes gave her stay still for a moment.

Jay noticed and moved toward her, still afraid, but not about to let go of this chance. He quietly laughed, tears still rolling down his cheeks as he made his response. “You are so welcome.”

Something inside of Nya clicked. A practical thinker would say something smart about psychic links, or the specific tone of Jay’s voice, or something else which would ruin the magic of it. But at that moment, whatever the reason might have been, all voices but her own went silent, and Nya froze, unsure of what to do next.

Her eyes landed on Jay’s hands, which were clenched tight and shaking, and she knew what to do. She reached out and took them into hers.

“So,” she said, looking down at their hands and smiling. “Do you like blue?”

Jay looked up in astonished glee, and answered in the only way possible.

“It’s my favorite color.”

*sniff* I decided to watch one of those “Ninja Vlog” things on the Lego website, and although it was very silly, I cried. I. Cried.🥲 So I was in a particular mood throughout the transcription bit of this.

It took me way longer than it should have, because I typed it all on my typewriter over the span of two nights, then spent today transcribing and editing it.

Luckily it’s Friday, and I actually got some extra time to write digitally, so it wasn’t too big of a tax on my other life stuff.

Anywho, onto the other bit of this post! I received a watercolor request (yes, I am doing those, because I can’t help but say yes to lovely lovelies asking for art) from Flora’s Week Show!

She asked for some bright summer flowers! So here you go.

I love drawing flowers, but it just so happens that whenever I have to do nature journaling as a school subject, I don’t want to.😐 Gotta get over that.

But yeah, I hope you like this, Flora!

That’s it for this post, I hope you have all enjoyed, and if you did, please feel free to leave some feedback!

Enjoy your weekend!

Love, Bea.💙

    • Thank you! I’m not 100% sure, I started mapping out a possible track for the AU last night, but I also want this to be as fluffy as it can be.
So do I, it would just be PERFECT. It also just worked so well with this scenario, because—like—she IS blue. Hehe, sweet fandom bliss.
And yeah, I agree, the last episode especially, GOSH it was adorable. But heartwrenching at the same time, thinking about how happy they were before Seabound.🥲
      Thank you again, you too!
